To any of you who have not yet started the book, i'm warning you now, the language in which it is written is quite difficult. The more you read on the more you will understand it but if you did'nt quite understand what happened on the page you just read, read it again! I had to read the same page about 3 times.
happy reading!

The language is more DIFFERENT than DIFFICULT. Do NOT be put off by all the long or unusual words, as the plot/characters/narrative etc. are perfectly clear if you persevere. It would be easy to be put off by a text written in the 19th Century, but you MUST all persevere, otherwise you will get nowhere. Trust me: the most difficult texts repay the reader tenfold if the reader is committed enough to keep going until the end. Also, once you get caught up in the plot, the sometimes difficult language will not faze you so much.
So, basically, persevere, and it will be worth it. Honestly. :)
Why do they use such difficult language why not just plain english? Do they do that on purpose to annoy some people or something ^_^
Yep, I also think that it's quite difficult to grip the book at first. I kind of lost it at the beginning and then I caught up with the story after the next few pages. My advice is, try not to notice the new and difficult words, but try to think of what they might mean. That made it easier for me with the one or two odd words tha Anne Bronte writes...
Well, it was written in the 19th century...I don't think that they knew "plain english" then...Only joking..But it is true...It's an old book...
Well, you can get it from any bookshop, I got my copy from WHSmith. But you can go to different bookshops like Waterstones or something. But most of them don't actually sell the £1 version that sir was talking about.
i know! sir you lied! my copy set me back 6 pounds lol
As with any book written a while ago, there are loads of different editions. Bookshops are unlikely to stock them all, and, it seems, few stock the £1 edition.
However, if you go on to amazon and order all THREE there, you can get them for a TOTAL of £6 + delivery. That is for the Penguin Popular Classics edition.
